Work From Home: What You Need To Know

The period we are going through, which is full of concern for the Pandemic that the whole planet is facing due to the Coronavirus has set new standards & solutions in the work sector, requiring the work from home or Telework.

Imagine: Your office chair is your sofa or your dining chair.
Your route is the length of your corridor.
Your drawer is your nightstand.
Do you think is it a dream ???
Not these days, we are all learning how to live with the reality of the coronavirus.

Certainly working from home implies a lot of positives, but it also comes with several challenges and difficulties.

Below you can find 8 tips for effective work from home:

1. Create a workspace

It is very important to delimit a space (a bright room) as your workplace, at home. Your Office.
The space that you isolate, gather and successfully complete your daily projects.
As the home is the place where we usually relax, it is important to create a place that helps us get into work mode.
An Office Furniture suitable for the needs of your work and a PROPER office chair for your body type, are the flagship of working from home.

2. Invest in your physical health

It is very important, when you work, to sit RIGHT.
The proper posture promotes a healthy, efficient and ultimately satisfied person.

What should be noted is that:

The daily use of an ergonomic seat, offers me a right posture, keeps me in a strong position and improves my pelvic health.

The “smart” mechanisms for adjusting the stiffness of the back tilt, the rolling of the seat as well as the height adjustment of the waist and headrest, maintain a CORRECT posture of my body.

When I sit CORRECTLY
My thighs point down and are at a 90o angle to each other.

The curve created at the point of my waist, allows the tilt’s pelvis forward, which ensures the natural and neutral position of the spine.

I BREATHE automatically better, as relaxing my neck allows the uninterrupted blood flow to the brain.
My arms are supported properly, so the elbows, shoulders and consequently the neck remain secure.
No part of the body is pressed and even after many hours of work .. I do not feel tired and physically annoyed.
If I suffer from musculoskeletal disorders, I do not feel any pain in the area of pain.
Therefore, investing in a proper chair, I invest in myself!

NOTE. WE NEVER FORGET THAT WE SHOULD NOT SIT CONTINUOUSLY FOR MANY HOURS! A WALK EVEN FOR 1 MINUTE IS IMPORTANT.

3. Create a schedule and stick to it

Working from home opens so many horizons in front of us!
We can wake up later (goodbye move!), in order to cook, to exercise, to put that laundry we never get to spread out - the list is endless.
The news are good-we can!

But you need to be careful. Especially if we are morning guys, doing something other than work until noon often means that we will end up working our unproductive hours, with whatever difficulty this entails.

So create your own schedule: it could be that you start an hour later, or that you take a longer break at noon. Spend this time on what you would like (or need) to do.

Equally important is the time you finish: working from home does not mean that I am available 24/7. Limit your time to both your co-workers and yourself.

4. Maintain (or create) your routine

Do you have a quick coffee with your co-workers every morning before you start work?
You can do the same remotely! Take your coffee and laptop and sit somewhere comfortable for a “virtual coffee”. It is an opportunity to get to know each other better, e.g. showing your house or your favorite mug or your four-legged friend!

The same goes for your personal habits: create a daily routine and stick to it. It helps a lot to get into work mode.

5. Explain the term "work from home" to others

Working from home does not mean that I am on vacation, nor that I am available nearby or on the phone. It is often difficult for those around us to understand this, especially if they have not worked from home themselves.

It is very important to explain to those around you that you work and what it means. You can e.g. ask them to interact with you like when you go to the office.

Even if they find it difficult to implement (and it makes sense), try to keep it to yourself. Politely refuse to help your partner with clearing his closet, do not pick up the phone or open group chats with your friends while you work.

Worried about looking rude or weird? Maybe. But in the beginning. Sooner or later it will become a habit both for you and for those around you.

6. Give yourself a day off

Do you have a trouble concentrating? Are you lost in jobs (or anything else) and find it terribly difficult to work? If you are running out of work, it might be a good idea to give yourself a break for a day. Trying to work with stress, difficulty concentrating and regretting that it is already 15:30 is often futile.

Starting the next day relaxed, it is likely that you will get more and better work, offsetting the leave of the previous one. (Great care is needed here so that it does not become every day a day off!)

7. Boost your productivity

Do you have a trouble concentrating? Technology may have the solution. There are many tools that you may find useful, e.g. applications that inform about how / where we use our time, timers, applications that record how much time we consume for each task, others that help us stay focused ....
But also the simplest of all ... Take a break and restart!

8. Give yourself time to adjust to work from home

This unforeseen change is likely to take you off schedule or make it difficult for you. You are not alone and it makes perfect sense.
Try different ways of working, see what works for you and what does not. Sooner or later you will find it!

Recognize it and give yourself the time you need.

OUR TIP:
Prepare properly your new office, so that you can work efficiently, comfortably and without burdening your mental and physical health ... and everything will go better !!

"Try not to sit for many hours. But when you sit, try to choose chairs that comply with the principles of ergonomics and fit perfectly to the needs of your body "
