Ergonomics is important in the workplace because it can protect the worker from fatigue, work stress, burnout, discomfort, musculoskeletal disorders and other causes which can be created by awkward movements, incorrect furniture constructions, inappropriate temperatures and from situations that pose a risk to the health and safety of the employee.

It is also equally important because through ergonomics a balance can be struck between the employee's personal and work life without compromising his mental or physical health.

The main goals of ergonomics are:

Ensuring the health and safety of workers.
